Garden Harmony
In an attempt to do our part to leave less of a trace
on the Earth, we have started a new program called Garden Harmony that focuses
on teaching customers the benefit of "Creating Earth Friendly Gardens
through Natural Means". Gardening should not be thought of as work
but an attempt to become closer to the natural way of things. In the midst
of dirt, sweat, bugs, blisters and sometimes thorns, a sense of harmony
and serenity can be found, believe it or not. Plants not only provide beauty
to our surroundings but also provide shade, a sense of privacy, clean air,
homes for wildlife, a source of food and an overall connection to the land
and creatures we share our world with. To lie outside under a tree, one
can ponder life's questions and find answers in the simplicity of nature.
For these reasons we should do our best to work with the order of the elements
because no matter how hard we try to force things, nature will always win.
Each month we are offering a wide range of instructional classes that are
based around these ideas and ethics. Some of these classes include Companion
Planting, Flowers for Summer Heat, Dried Flower Crafts, Alternatives to
Pesticides, Composting, Planting for Wildlife and others. Please see the
list of upcoming classes or call for more information. We also carry a wide
range of organic fertilizers, organic amendments and organic pesticides.
Besides this, many of the plants we carry are drought tolerant and sun loving!
